11 Positive Affirmations For A Rainy Day

We’ve all been there. We wake up in the morning, crawl out of bed, open the curtains, and damn, it’s pouring rain and everything outside is just a different shade of grey.

Personally, I am someone whose mood is veryyy affected by the weather. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I absolutely love a good rain day. I used to be a runner and my favourite time to go for a run was always when it was raining. I also love the vibe of lighting some candles, making a hot cup of tea and curling up on the couch with a good book as I listen to the rain pitter patter against the window. Oh, and I love love love dancing in the rain! There is something so refreshing and so freeing about running barefoot outside, arms wide open, head tilted to the sky, rain pouring down on you as you spin in circles with a huge smile on your face.

BUT, there are also days when the wet, gloomy weather just makes me want to crawl back into bed and sleep the day away. I become lethargic. I become depressed. I lose all motivation and honestly just feel like the weather - gloomy.

On these days, it’s a little harder for me to feel good, to get into a productive routine, to participate in life. It’s easy to fall into bad patterns. A one hour nap suddenly turns into three. An episode or two of a TV show becomes a binge-fest and before you know it you’ve finished a whole season. Making a healthy meal is replaced by popping a frozen pizza in the oven. A day like this is okay every once in a while, but it’s important to not let the weather dictate how you live your life.

I’ve learned that what helps lift my mood the most on these days is getting outside first thing in the morning, listening to an encouraging and motivating podcast, reading a chapter of a self development book, and repeating positive affirmations. All of these things brighten my mood, give me energy, and put me in the right head space to have a productive day.

These are just a few of the affirmations I use to help improve my mindset on those harder days. Repeating these to myself when I start to feel down helps to put me in a better mood and remind me that my life is amazing, that I am amazing and that I really am capable of anything, all I have to do is believe in myself.
